Events! 1501 Younger Juniors Inter-province Taekwon-Do Championships, 12.06.2005, Krasnik We left around 8:30 to Krasnik on a coach. The journey went pass in almost pleasant atmosphere. Most of us were either catching up with their sleep or quietly trying to control their nerves. After we arrived at the venue, all formalities were completed without any problems and competition started on time. Since the beginning we knew that Lewart would have to fight against RAT Radzyn Podlaski for the lead in general medals classification. Radzynians who are always well prepared technically by instructor Janusz Wlizlo, like at other similar tournaments were in top of the group. After each of patterns categories, it was clear that the overall result wouldn’t be so obvious. Lewart and Radzyn both got two gold medals each. The other two were taken by TSC So-San Bialystok, who suddenly joined the close fight for first place. The key to winning the overall result was winning special techniques. After eliminations, two girls from our club got into top 5: Kaja Moskaluk and Paulina Janek. Paulina seemed to have the most chances here. She stormed through eliminations by easily clearing all three techniques. She looked like she wouldn’t have any problems in final round either. She cleared Nopi Ap Chagi with no problem, having at least 20cm more if she needed to use it. Nopi Dollyo Chagi was easy, too. After easily breaking board with Twimyo Yop, referee decided that she hit it with incorrect part of the foot and that way he took any chance for a victory away from her. Paulina has been training for the last 5 years. All of her jumps were high quality. Nevertheless the rigorous referee’s decision (considering age category at this colour belt competition) was final and made it impossible for Paulina to go through to next round. A very good competitor from Radzyn took her chance and won this event. Second up of our qualifying girls, Kaja Moskaluk, successfully completed second round of jumps. Unfortunately she doesn’t have the height advanatgae which was necessary to qualify further. Finally Kaja and Paulina secured bronze medal positions. After this event Radzyn was in the lead. Boys’ special techniques also turned out to be very successful for us. There were 5 boys from our club within 15 who qualified. Czarek Marzeda of Lewart, last year’s medallist had the biggest chance to win. Knowing Czarek’s abilities and effortless way in which he clears all the jumps, we had the most chances to win this event. Unfortunately just before final round, Czarek tripped over a mat, injured his big toe and pulled out of the event without trying for gold medal. He was partially substituted by Adrian Tomasiewicz, who performed very bravely and secured bronze medal position. Similar to girls’ event, it was also a competitor from Radzyn who took gold. With this victory, Radzyn had first place in the overall medal classification (4 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze). But Lewart definitely won the overall points classification, achieving 31 points in total (Radzyn had 19). Together our youngest competitors achieved 12 medals. Kaja Moskaluk secured gold medal position in 6th Kup and above patterns category and Adam Oniszczuk in 8th Kup and under patterns category. Together there were 114 competitors from 11 clubs. All of our competitors performed very well, considering they had a weakened squad. I would like to thank them very, very much for taking part in the tournament and I expect even more determination at training in future. After competition had finished, we took a group photo and left back home. Atmosphere was definitely more lively and smiley than a few hours back. You can see this closer on the photos. We stopped in McDonalds in Lublin on the way home. All the hungry students received a happy meal as a gift. Pumped with Coke and stuffed with fried chicken pieces and chips we arrived in Lubartow around 7pm.Jerzy Jedut Translated by: Aleksandra Korneluk See photos Below are medal positions achieved by MKS Lewart Gold medals: |
