Top Ten revealed (Lubartowiak Plebiscite)

The 11th “Lubartowiak” Plebiscite for top 10 sports people of Lubartow was revealed on 17th February at 8pm at Lubartowski Osrodek Kultury. The top ten was chosen amongst 19 candidates from different sport disciplines. There were 5 Taekwon-Do practitioners nominated.

Off to Wisla skiing and training (TKD winter camp); 10-19.02.2007

This year’s camp in Wisla brought together 70 participants including 4 people from Slovakia and 7 from England with Tom Denis who is visiting us for the eighth time in history.

Seminar in Skövde – Sweden, 9-11.02.2007

We left at 5am while it was still dark outside to conduct my first international patterns seminar abroad. The journey went by very quickly. I drove the first part from Lubartow to Warsaw. It took exactly 2 hours to get to the airport. After a little while I jumped on the plane which arrived in Sweden in no time.

5th Presov Open – two day report, 3-4.02.2007

Presov Open is a very well organised tournament at good prices in an excellent setting of Presov town. These are only a few reasons why it attracts more and more competitors every year. This time the organisors had to extend the competition to 2 days (3 days with registration). Of course we couldn’t forget about delicious pizzas served in nicely decorated and comfortable restaurants. The main theme of these is “La cucaracha”.

Seminar in Chotomow, 27.01.2007

Mazowiecki TKD Association invited me to conduct a seminar in Chotomow near Warsaw and so, I made my way there on Saturday morning the 27th of January. Due to the weather conditions, it was almost impossible to use my Fiat’s transporting abilities. It was snowing, the roads were slippery and poorly cleared off of snow and careful drivers didn’t make the journey so exciting. Nevertheless, there were a couple of positive things.

Visiting Korea

We were completely surprised by an invitation to go to South Korea. A year ago, not even one person from Europe, especially Poland, would think about helping Koreans to teach Taekwon-Do or teaching Taekwon-Do in Korea. As a country of origin of Taekwon-Do, Korea has over 4 million black belt holders and over 20 thousands clubs but all of them promote TKD sport (WTF).Until now the traditional TKD established by Gen. Choi Hong Hi did not have an opportunity to develop on this side of Korean Peninsula.

1st Regional Gala of Sports Champions, 05.01.2007

The final ceremony of 1st Regional Gala of Sports Champions took place at the hall of Akademia Rolnicza in Lublin with the presence of Lubelski Sport Express newspaper and Polish TV Lublin. Me, Jarek Suska and Mariusz Walach as representatives of MKS Lewart Lubartow AGS were one of the many sports, politics and business celebrities invited over. Unfortunately J. Jedut and M. Walach could not make it to the Gala for good reasons and so I played the representative’s part. As it later turned out, our club’s chairman, Mr Janusz Pozak was present as well.

AETF Board Meeting, 5-7.01.2007, Lublin

This is the third time the AETF Board Members meet each other in this much unexpected and spring atmosphere. Present were: Tadeusz Loboda – President, Coos Van den Heuvel – Vicepresident, me – General Secretary as well as Sheena Sutherland, Brendan O’Toole and Marius Oltean – members. Present were also three representatives of the Revisory Commission (Frank Vanberghen, Orello Ellis and Sergiu Sloninov). Additionally we were happy to have Annick Van Driesshe – President of Belgian TKD Federation, as well as Malgosia Rogaczewska – PA to Tadeusz Loboda and also Tudor Platea from Moldavia.

2006 medals, results and achievements of MKS Lewart AGS Club

Writing about successes should be simple and pleasurable, nevertheless it wasn’t easy for me to describe another year so rich in medals and events significant to our club. There was just a lot to mention. As you know it’s not easy to talk about everyone who achieved something and everything that happened in the club in a way that wouldn’t bore you as a reader. After some time spent on necessary censorship (thinning) I am inviting you to read this article. Once you read it, you will recognise many reasons for us to be proud as a club, and prove that Lubartow is still one of the most important Taekwon-Do Centres in Poland and around Europe. The article also tells you that this big bag of successes could only be recorded thanks to all of us and everybody plays their part. Let’s therefore respect all of our deeds and look forward to the future.

Summer Taekwon-Do Camp, Nowa Ruda-Slupiec

We decided to take the summer camp from Lubartow to a quite far but very nice part of Poland, Klodzka Valley at the same time fulfilling expectations of the group of potential participants from Lubartow, Lublin, Milejow and Leczna. We chose Nowa Ruda-Slupiec town.

Guests from Ireland in Lubartow (12-17.06.2005)

Similar to last year, we had guests from abroad visiting us in Lubartow to train Taekwon-Do together with us in our ‘barrack’. In the first 2 months there were Hong Keat Looi - III Dan and Sabina Mason - I Dan, both from England. Then there were Carolina Dillen - I Dan from New Zealand and Nicholas Tran – III Dan from Canada (son of the president of ITF, Master Tran Trieu Quan). Both of them lived and trained in Lubartow for 2 weeks.

Younger Juniors Inter-province Taekwon-Do Championships, 12.06.2005, Krasnik

For the last few years Lewart always brought big groups of younger juniors for the Inter-province Championships. This year, together with 3 coaches, there were 22 of our youngest competitors who came to Krasnik. It doesn’t mean that we only have this small group. It just happened that at that time of the year there was a lot of school trips and camps and there were around 10 competitors missing from the group. Nevertheless we outnumbered many of other clubs in these championships.

14th Polish Junior Taekwon-Do Championships in Olesnica, 4-5.06.2005

We were not the most favourite in these championships. Additionally we did not have the strongest squad. The main aim of this trip was to gain experience and show everyone what our juniors are worth. Travelling on Mr. Jacek Tchorz’s mini bus was short and pleasurable as usual. We stayed in ‘Perla’ Hotel in Olesnica. The six of our competitors had enough time to rest after eating supper and I was off on a technical conference joint together with making draws.

XVIII Polish Senior Championships - Wielun

There were two weeks break between ‘Ahac’ Cup and Polish Senior Championships. For our competitors these two weeks were full of high intensity preparations for this most important club event in the year. We left to Wielun on Friday 27th May in a 17 people squad to defend the title of the best Taekwon-Do club of the senior category in Poland.

Ahac Cup Open in Taekwon-Do, Sentjur, Slovenia 13-14.05.2005

Only four days passed and we were off onto another trip. This time, together with LSKT Lublin and Piotr Kurkus (Lotos Jablonna), we were on our way to Sentjur in Slovenia. This was where the Ahac Cup in Taekwon-Do was taking place for the 8th time.

Polish Taekwon-Do Cup ‘B’, 7-8.05.2005, Cicibor

We were trying to go at a top speed with Sylwek. Still on the way, Tadek Loboda rang me and said it is not worth coming, as the competition would finish before we even got there. I did not truly believe that and I didn’t change my original plans in the end. We got to Cicibor at 12:30pm.

Seminar in Helsinki, Finland, 04-08.05.2005

I only had one day when I didn’t do anything at all. Straight after the Olympiad we left for Helsinki together with Sylwek to take a seminar consisting of about 100 participants. This time the organiser was different to Finnish TKD Association. It was one of the best and strongest Finnish clubs under the management of Michael Holler IV Degree. It was him who invited me to this seminar a few months earlier. Remembering the great atmosphere during one of the earlier seminars in Oul, I accepted the invitation with a great pleasure.

9th National Youth Olympiad in Indoor Sports

Finals of the 11th National Youth Olympiad in Taekwon-Do came to an end. For the second time Lubartow was hosting this sort of rank event dedicated to the best younger juniors in Poland.
